Meet-And-Greet The Nonprofit Home Improvement Thrift Store
This Vendor Night event will be held at the Habitat Ogden ReStore, located at 3111 Wall Avenue, Ogden UT 84401. On January 14th from 6 PM to 9 PM, there will be food and drinks available in addition to opportunity drawings and other fun. The nonprofit hopes to invite contractors, businesses, and other individuals who are involved with home building, home engineering, and home improvement. Everyone who is invited will be able to socialize and network with others in the same field of home construction and repair.
“The reason for this event is that we want to thank all those who have supported our ReStore for the past 2 years,” states the Marketing Director. “We also want to be able to introduce ourselves to those who have never been to our ReStore while meeting-and-greeting those involved with home construction.”
This social event will allow individuals to network with each other. The ReStore managers hope to explain to the invitees of what they do and how they help the community and provide services to those involved with building and repairing homes. They hope to meet with members of the community in order to provide different resources.
The Habitat Ogden ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement thrift store and donation center. They are able to accept new and gently-used items as donations. These donations are then sold at a fraction of the original price to the general public. Anyone can shop, donate, and volunteer at the Habitat Ogden ReStore.
“We’ve had many companies come to our Ogden ReStore because they had excess materials in cabinetry, lumber, furniture, and so much more,” explains the Marketing Director for HabitatWD. “Many companies do not realize that when they come to our ReStore they receive a donation receipt, which allows them to write-off their donations for their taxes. In addition to this, they are able to get rid of the items that they may not necessarily want and have it go towards a good cause. It keeps the home improvement items out of the landfill.”
In the past 2 years, the Ogden ReStore has diverted over 1 million pounds of items from the landfills in Utah. This store prides itself for doing its part to being environmentally friendly. The ReStore managers hope to get the word out to those in home construction and engineering that there is a place to donate, shop, and volunteer.
The proceeds from the Habitat Ogden ReStore go towards building and repairing homes for families residing in Weber and Davis Counties.
The vision is to create
"a world where everyone has a decent place to live."
In 2017, the proceeds went toward 2 Habitat Homes for a veteran and for a single mother with 2 children, as well as over 40 repair projects. This year, the proceeds are going towards other repair projects for families in need, finishing a new Habitat Home for a single mother with six children, and starting 3 more Habitat Home builds in Weber and Davis Counties.
Any company or individual involved with home construction or home repair are welcome to join HabitatWD at its ReStore on January 14th from 6 PM to 9 PM. Learn more about the nonprofit home improvement thrift store in addition to meeting other members in the community.
